Robert R. Prechter, Jr. -
ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE WAVE
The founder and president of Elliott Wave
International, Robert R. Prechter, Jr. has been publishing
Elliott wave commentary since 1976. In December 1989, Financial
News Network named him "Guru of the Decade." Bob served for ten
years on the Board of Directors of the Market Technicians
Association and in 1990 was elected its president.

ON THE HIGH COST OF OWNING PHYSICAL GOLD &
SILVER:
THE VALUE OF A KISS:
There are many ways to own gold and silver, and some, I will be
the first to admit, far cheaper than physical gold and
silver. Options, futures, mining stocks, or warehouse receipts
all carry lower transaction costs than physical metal… But life is
more than transaction costs.

WHAT’S A NUMISMATIC COIN?
(AND WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BUY THEM)
The following article first appeared in the July, 1996
Moneychanger. I am republishing it now because over and over
coin dealers keep repeating the same false claims which this
article disproves.

THE VALUE OF DOING
NOTHING
Like every other successful general in history, Fabius knew
the possibility of victory always improves when you pick the time,
ground, and occasion of the battle, forcing the enemy to react to
you. Doing nothing until conditions run your way stacks the deck
in your favour. In short, doing nothing works far better
than doing something, until the right opportunity appears.

A PLAN
TO SELL?
Unlike diamonds, investments are not forever. They
are made to be bought and sold. There is a season and a time for
everything, even a time for selling gold and silver.

AL
THOMAS SAYS, IF IT DOESN'T GO UP, DON'T
BUY IT!
Subscribers often ask me what they should do with their 401(k)
plan, etc. which is invested in stocks. Should they just pay the
penalty and get out, rather than ride their stocks down? I didn’t
have a better answer for most of them. However, in his book Al
Thomas outlines a trading strategy that can protect investors
trapped in these plans.

Spread
Nothing
spooks as quickly as money. When the first whiff of panic hits the
air, money runs for cover, fleeing from illiquid, low quality
instruments to liquid, high quality. The flight to quality always
stems from some collapse of confidence, whether in a currency,
banking or financial system, or in a future threatened by war and
terrorism.
- TED SPREAD LINGO
BASIS POINT or TICK Measure of
movement in the Eurodollar and T-Bill contracts. One percentage
point move in yield equals 100 basis points or ticks, so a tick is
1/100 of a one percentage point move in interest rates.

Parks Interview
When you find a good source, it’s hard to leave it alone.
That’s why I return to my friend Sam Parks when I have questions
about gold and oil stocks. Mark Twain once defined a gold mine as
"A hole in the ground with a liar at the mouth." Neither human
nature nor mining promotion have changed much since
then.
- A
Detour for Delta Hedging
Let me detour for a moment to explain this
keystone to understanding the present silver market. What is
"delta hedging"? When option holders see prices move a certain
amount away from the strike price of options they hold, option
theory demands that they buy or sell an offsetting amount to cover
their increased risk.
- "Back
Yard" Gas Stocks
Whenever I have a question about natural resource stocks,
I call Sam Parks. Sam’s research is impeccable, he has the
experience necessary to make good judgements, and he is a man of
integrity.
